Principles By Henri Fayol

Division of Work

This is the first, and one of the most crucial principles of Fayol, According to this principle work should be divided into small manageable and feasible tasks. A competent who is eligible should be hired. Hiring qualified employ will lead to specialisation, and the speciality will result in inefficiency in the organisation.

Authority And Responsibility

Authority - It refers to the power of giving orders and maintain obedience
Responsibility -  It refers to complete the assigned task.
According to the Fayol authority should commensurate responsibility. Any imbalance in Authority and responsibility will result in jeopardise this principle.

Example- When Responsibility is higher than authority, Suppose there is a production manager, he ordered his subordinates to make 1000 units and restricts the aide to buy additions raw material. When aide come to evaluate the raw material the came to know that the available raw material is inadequate for producing 1000 units now aides also can't but extra raw material because their boss restricted this function.

Discipline

Discipline is the obedience to organisational rules and employment agreement which are necessary for the working of the organisation. Sir Henri Fayol, Discipline requires good superiors at all levels, clear and fair and judicious application of penalties.

Unity Of Command

According to Fayol, There should be one and only one boss for every individual employee. In other words, each employee in an organisation should receive an order and be responsible to only one superior. Fayol felt that if this principle is violated "Authority is undetermined, discipline is in jeopardy, order disturbed, and stability threatened"

Unity Of Direction

Unity of command states that all the units of an organisation should be moving towards the same objective. This will increase efficiency and coordination in the organisation. Each group of activities have one head one plan. It prevents overlapping of activities.

So this is all for this post there are 9 more principles, and we'll discuss them in the next blog post, So I hope you have enjoyed reading please show your love by sharing this post.
