Right To Be Heard

It states that consumer has the right to file a complaint in to be heard in the case of dissatisfaction of good or service or short falling in the consumer expectation. it is because of this reason many companies don't have a consumer support centre and grievance cell.

Right To Seek Redressal

It states that the consumer has the right to get relief in case of product or service for shots of his expectation. Consumer protection act provides a number of a reliefs to the consumer. For example removal of the defect in good or deficiency in service, replacement, return, compensation paid for any loss or injury.

Right to consumer education

The consumer has a right to acquire knowledge and to be well-informed consumers throughout life. He should be aware of his right and relief available to him in case of a product falls short in his expectation.

Consumer Responsibilities

Responsibility of consumer while purchasing any goods or services are



  • The consumer should ask for a cash memo on purchasing of good or services. It would serve as a proof of purchase made.
  • Buy only standardized goods as the provide quality assurance. Thus look for ISI mark on electronic goods, AgMark on food items, bis hallmark on jewellery, DOT certification on helmets etc.
  • Read the label carefully so as to have information about prices, net weight, manufacturing and expiry date.
  • Beware about various goods and services in the market so that intelligent and wise choice can be made.
  • Be honest dealings choose only from legal goods and discourage cheating practices like black marketing, hoarding, adulteration etc.

Consumer Responsibilities While Using A Consuming Goods


  • Learn about risk related to the product and service and follow the manufacturer's instruction in use the product safely.
  • Respect environment avoids littering in contribution to pollution.
  • file a complaint inappropriate consumer forum in case of shortcoming in the quality of goods purchased or service avail do not hesitate even if the amount involved is small.
